Barelegs
Background
Barelegs Brew is named in honour of King Magnus Barelegs who reigned as King of Norway from 1093 until his death in 1103. His real name was Magnus Barefoot, but he was nicknamed Barelegs because he wore tunics which barely reached his knees - a novel sight at a time when men wore long tunics that reached the ankle.
His campaigns led to warfare in Ireland, Britain and the Isle of Man. In 1003 he raided Downpatrick to replenish supplies. He was ambushed and killed by the Ulaid, Men of Ulster. The Viking King is said to be buried in Downpatrick less than two miles from Saint Patrick, another of the company’s brands.
Brewer Notes
Golden with a hint of red (towards sunset). Barelegs tastes of fresh fruit, especially red current and malt fragrance. Full drinking with a subtle hoppy finish. Refreshing for a beer of this strength.
ABV
The ABV of Barelegs Ale is 4.5%.Review
