St Patrick’s Gold

Background

St. Patrick’s Gold is one of three Irish beers from our St. Patrick’s range, alongside St. Patrick’s Best and Ale/Dark. Here’s some background on the man the beers are named after:

St. Patrick, Magonus Sucatus Patricius, the son of the Roman Decurion Calpernius, was reputedly born in modern day Wales.  Captured by ‘Nial of the Nine Hostages’ in the early 5th century, he was sold as a slave to the Irish Chieftian Milchu at Slemish, County Antrim.  Escaping Ireland after six years he returned bringing Christianity.

Brewer Notes

Our smooth yet powerful wheat beer is unusually refreshing on the pallet.  Golden in colour, St. Patrick’s Gold is brewed with barley and wheat malt. Citrus peel and coriander are added to the Goldings and Saaz hops for a symphony of authentic flavour.

Review

Pour and Appearance: This is an odd one, pours withh very little carbonation, just like the St Patricks Best bottled, slightly creamy head forms but only with some aggressive pouring, body is a light amber

Smell: Very fresh, apples some hint of pear, maybe bananas

Flavour: Wheaty and biscuity, dry and fruity. Really thirst quenching and very drinkable

Overall: I actually dont mind the very low carbonation, as any non german wheat i’ve had had been plagued by serious over carbonation problems
